About Islam: 

Islam is one of the world's major religions and is based on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, who lived in the 7th century CE. The followers of Islam are called Muslims. Islam is derived from the Arabic word "salam," which means peace, and its fundamental principle is the submission to the will of God (Allah in Arabic).

The central text of Islam is the Qur'an, which Muslims believe to be the word of God as revealed to Muhammad over a period of approximately 23 years. The Qur'an covers a wide range of topics, including theology, morality, guidance for personal conduct, and social issues. Muslims consider it to be the final and most complete revelation from God.

The Five Pillars of Islam are the core principles and practices that are considered essential for Muslims. They are as follows:

1. Shahada: The declaration of faith, which involves bearing witness that there is no god except Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger.

2. Salah: The ritual prayer performed five times a day, facing the Kaaba in Mecca. It serves as a means of communication with God and a reminder of one's purpose and obligations in life.

3. Zakat: The practice of giving a portion of one's wealth to the poor and needy. It is seen as a form of purification and an obligation to help those less fortunate.

4. Sawm: Fasting during the month of Ramadan, from dawn to sunset. Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during this time, focusing on spiritual reflection, increased devotion, and self-discipline.

5. Hajj: The pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which is obligatory for Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake it. It involves specific rituals and commemorates the actions of the Prophet Muhammad.

In addition to the Five Pillars, Muslims are expected to follow a moral code of conduct, which includes principles such as honesty, kindness, justice, and respect for others. Muslims also believe in the existence of angels, accountability for one's actions on the Day of Judgment, and the concept of predestination.

Islam has a rich history and diverse traditions, with different interpretations and practices among its followers around the world. The majority of Muslims live in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, but the religion has followers in virtually every country.
